Happy Friday SoulfulSQUAD!
I pray that you all are finding your groove as we head into a new month. With most things back to somewhat normal and in-person, I feel like I am huffing and puffing my way through life. This is a busy time of year for my family and I. My boys play basketball, and if you know anything about basketball season… It’s the busiest season of all. My baby girl is in dance classes as well, and each night I’m exhausted by bedtime. The weather is changing, it’s getting darker earlier, and my body is telling me that the new season isn’t just coming… it’s already here!
Within all of that, I have also been feeling the need to “do more” in other areas of my life. Food habits, fitness, education, my kids, etc. Now that the weather is a bit chillier, there’s more time for scrolling social media seeing what other people are doing. After feeling a bit of inadequacy, I had to stop and remind myself of who I am, and whose I am.
The text tells us:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.” (Hebrews 13: 8-9, NLT)
It gives me pure comfort and joy to be reminded that regardless of the season and what the season brings, Jesus NEVER changes! His grace and mercy are sufficient to fulfill all of the doubts, inadequacies, fear, anxieties, and whatever else the enemy has thrown at me. This verse also reminds me that although I may see things that look good, it doesn’t mean that I need to be attracted to those things and feel that what I’m doing isn’t enough. I am enough. You are enough. And what you and I are doing in this season is enough.
If you had to buy some pre-made cookies to decorate instead of making homemade cookies… YOU’RE ENOUGH.
If you had to buy pizza tonight because of your busy schedule instead of making a healthy homemade dinner…YOU’RE STILL ENOUGH.
If your kids had to watch 2 shows tonight so you could get some things done around the house… YOU’RE MORE THAN ENOUGH.
I’m challenging us ALL to really dismiss the ways of the world, and to lean in to God’s promises and His word this season. This season is filled with images of what we “should be doing”, when we really should be meditating on God’s truths, as he NEVER changes. His love for you never changes. He created you in His image, and that my friend, is ENOUGH.
I’m praying that you all find his comfort this season, and that I get to see you soon!
